Capri’s Groundbreaking Women’s Empowerment Investment

Capri Holdings Leads Fashion Industry with Pioneering Women’s Empowerment Investment

Capri Holdings, the renowned global luxury fashion group encompassing Versace, Jimmy Choo, and Michael Kors, has become the first company to invest in the global voluntary market for women’s empowerment that Empower Co. is building. Through this investment, Capri sets a trailblazing precedent in the fashion industry, and helps catalyze the first market focused on amplifying the power of women.

A Pioneering Investment in Women

Capri invested in W+ units from the Regenerative Ranches and Farms Project, certified by the W+ Standard™, developed by women-led project developer ERA Brazil and part of its Pollen Program. This project is exclusively represented by Empower Co. Through this investment, Capri is empowering women in the Cerrado region of Brazil by providing technical assistance, equipment, courses, and capacity building in regenerative agriculture. Women who have participated in the project have been able to plant, harvest, and sell products from thriving agroforestry systems.

Notably, Capri’s investment also holds the potential to generate multifaceted co-benefits beyond empowering women. At scale, agroforestry improves families’ food security and climate resilience, facilitates carbon sequestration, restores biodiversity, enhances soil health, and preserves water resources in the region. Moreover, it creates better opportunities for future generations of smallholder farmers in the Cerrado.

A Blueprint for a Better Future

Capri is taking a substantial stride forward in its bold Corporate Social Responsibility strategy thanks to the unique market- and outcomes-based approach Empower Co. represents. Capri’s investment adds transparent and measurable impact to its sector-leading gender goals, offering a blueprint for other companies committed to a more equitable and sustainable future.

“Empower Co. is on a mission to scale women’s empowerment in a transparent, quantifiable way because women are the key to solving nearly every major crisis facing humanity today — from climate change to food insecurity,” said Empower Co. Founder and CEO Rachel Vestergaard. “As the ones on the frontlines of these crises, women are not just the most vulnerable, they are also experts at creating resilient solutions. Investments like Capri’s empower women to build a better future for all.”
